What is hypnosis?
A hypnotic trance is a state of enhanced relaxation in which the subconscious mind is receptive to suggestions. Some people have likened it to guided day-dreaming.
What will happen in a session?
Each session will begin with the therapist gathering information so that a specific programme can be tailored to the client’s needs.
Later a trance will be induced and deepened, followed by post-hypnotic suggestions.
How long will sessions last?
Sessions normally last between seventy and ninety minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies according to the condition and to the motivation of the client. Most people are surprised how quickly benefits are achieved in two or three sessions. The therapist’s aim is to make the client independent. Consequently, self hypnosis is often taught and a CD is sometimes made for the client’s specific needs.
Will I lose control and be embarrassed?
Unlike stage hypnosis, which is for the benefit of the audience, hypnotherapy is for the benefit of the client. At any point you will feel you could open your eyes and you remain in control throughout. All suggestions given are what you would wish for yourself.
